What a weekend!

July 18, 2008

Don’t miss this Sunday morning as we worship the Lord together with our Hispanic congregation.  It will be a great day with Brother William preaching and our pastor translating.  In addition the music will be a blend of both Spanish and English, and will be a tremendous blessing.  At the end of the service we will see about 7 people being baptized!!

After the service we will have lunch together and celebrate what the Lord is doing at Eastwood.  God is truly at work in our midst and we are excited about the coming days as we work together to see the Kingdom of God aadvancing in our world.

See ya Sunday!

Hey Jeff, I don’t know if you can answer this but you’re a smartie so I bet you can: How so we as christians “deny ourselves”?

Hi Leslie. Like you, I look forward to hearing Jeff answer your question about how we Christians “deny ourselves.” Maybe you are thinking of Luke 9:23, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Jesus had just finished telling his disciples he would be killed and raised to life on the third day. To the disciples, the cross meant crucifixion. If you take up the cross, you are definitely denying your own life. As Christians today, maybe denying ourselves involves saying “no” to anything that doesn’t resemble Jesus.

Yeah I agree. I also think it means to totally depend on God and to trust Him completely- but I could be wrong!

In heaven, will we see both God and Jesus? Rev 21.22 refers to the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb.

in answer to your question, check this verse: John 5:37 and think about this thought: Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father on a throne. We know that Jesus ascended in bodily form as a man and will come again that way. So if He is seated next to the Father who is also seated on a throne that begs the question of God having a shape or form. I believe that we will see both the Father and the Son.
